We used Weststar Relocation for our cross country move in July 2010. The reason I went with this company was because of their reasonable quote and because the salesperson I spoke with assured me that our furniture would arrive in South Carolina one week after the initial pick-up in California. They arrived at our home in California on the pick-up date that was originally agreed on. However after loading up all our furniture they realized that the truck was not working. So the broken down truck, with all our belongings inside, remained on the street for 2 days after the initial pick-up. In the meantime we made the move across the country to be in South Carolina for when our furniture arrived. A few days later, once our furniture was eventually out of the storage facility and onto a large semi-truck with other customers' furniture, the driver of the truck called me to say that the truck had broken down in Arizona. It took 4 days to have the part replaced.
In summary, we ended up living in an empty apartment for over a week waiting for the truck to arrive. This was a frustrating experience because it was obviously not what we had planned. If the salesperson at the outset would have told us that it was going to take longer to transport our belongings across the country, we could have delayed moving into our new apartment. The fact that during the course of our move we had two of the company's trucks break down definitely added to the frustration. And I'm not even going to start explaining about how our dining room table top got separated from the rest of our belongings and only arrived in South Carolina almost 1 month afterwards.
If you choose to use Weststar Relocation for your move, I would recommend that you not rely on the promises made by the salespeople. While the movers themselves were friendly and efficient in loading and unloading the truck, there seems to be some serious communication glitches that resulted in our cross country move being significantly more stressful than it should have been.
