Initially things were great when I contacted Vanlines of America. The salesperson was very nice and the price was one of the better quotes that I had recieved. This is why I decided to use them to move my office. My quote was for 1 truck, 3 movers, and a guaranteed,set price of $398.00 with no additional costs. Moving day arrived and the movers were early. Also, there were only 2 movers. Then I was instructed to sign all kinds of paperwork that was thrust at me. I was told that my price was guaranteed, but only up to 400 sq. feet of packing. Anything over that would be extra. I asked the movers professional opinion about how much we had and he said "It looks to be around 400 sq feet, maybe a little more. I will let you know when we get to 400 so you can decide what you want to do." To be safe my associates and myself packed 3 vehicles full of stuff so that we could be under the 400 sq feet. We even told them to leave some items that we would pick up later. When they were all done packing, I was informed that it was 600 sq feet and that I needed to pay them an additional $100 dollars. I asked why they didnt inform me when they were at 400 sq feet and the man rudely told me that if I didnt want to pay that they would unload 200 sq feet right there and I would have to deal with it. I couldn't believe that his professional opinion was off by 200 sq feet plus everything we loaded up ourselves in our vehicles. Obviously, I needed the stuff moved so I had to agree. After arriving at the new office, he demanded the money up front, before they unloaded. There was some small damage done to some desks and shelving, but I was too mad to even bring it up. I would not reccommend this company to someone who is planning a move.
