I would like to be positive with my critique of Transamerica but that is really hard to do. I am POSITIVE you should stay away from them. They will be wonderfully polite right up untl the truck drives away with your furnitlure. They give you a great binding estimate and then they will call you with all the "hidden" charges. In our case they told us they needed 10 days for cross-country move, then put our furniture in storage for a week and charged us an additional $1244. for it. The truck leaked so a lot of our boxes were sopping wet and crushed when we got them. Several pieces of sturdy furniture were broken. We submitted a claim for the broken pieces and were given a settlement amount but have yet to see a penny of it. Oh, by way, don't expect themto return your calls. Lastly they assured us they only use their employees for moving. Our delivery crew were obviously day laborers which would be fine except they did not appear to know how to move furniture upstairs and managed to put deep gouges in the walls and bannister. If this is your only choice in movers, I strongly suggest you get a U-haul and do it yourself. One star is the lowest I can give them but they don't deserve any.
