Review 2/15/2010

update on my review from 11/09/09. Update on my goods being released from Swift Moving & Storage after they held them hostage from Oct 15-Dec 16,2009. FMCSA became involved but Swift still demanded $2500 cash to have the goods released to me. Their warehouse turned out to be a storage unit at Extra Space Storage Facility in Chatsworth, Ca. Items were missing, the ones that were released were damaged, the movers were very careless in handling the merchandise, placing items on the asphalt causing further damage. Couch had been gouged with multiple tears sustained while in their care. A side by side refrigerator didn’t make it with the rest of my items to outside the gate on the day the items were released to my representative. I sent a claims letter to Swift Moving & Storage via certified mail on 1/15/10. I got a response from Swift’s Moving & Storage’s office manager(Emily Matthews): Please stop to e-mail/mail us we are done and over with you once mayflower toke over this move. Emily Matthews Swift Moving & Storage Inc. emily@myswiftmovers.com PH: 877-727-9438 Fax: 818.990.2755 www.myswiftmovers.com After receiving the $2500 cash on 12/16/09, Swift Moving and Storage processed unauthorized charges to the credit card used previously in a transaction in the amt of $4000 trying to get more money after stating the $2500 was the final bill, the credit card company did recoup the $4000 last month after a copy of the the “ Paid in full” receipt for the $2500 was submitted. The $2500 in cash was more than 110% of the $1700 binding estimate that Swift initially charged for the move. Swift Moving & Storage is now regrouping and phone has been disconnected. I look for them to come up again under a different name if they can get under the radar of AMSA and FMCSA. Swift Moving and Storage isn’t accredited by the BBB. They have a “F” rating according to la.bbb.org. Review the above pictures to get an idea of the poor care your belongings receive while in the care of this moving company. Lesson has been learned, you have been warned. If you have been victimized by this company turn them in to FMCSA/la.bbb.org/surface transportation board/check out complaints against the company by typing their name in the search window of your browser. I was notified by CSI, claims processor for Swift Moving & Storage, Inc that they have been terminated by Swift Moving & Storage. By the way CSI is located in Fl and also has a new telephone#. CSI instructed me to contact Swift Moving & Storage directly, stating they were terminated by Swift on 2/1/2010 but I wasn’t notified until 2/15/2010 which is exactly 30days from the date of receipt of my claims letter to Swift Moving & Storage. Swift is supposed to respond within 30 days according to the law. I will update if anything else jumps.
