I used Mega Van Lines to move my 82 year old father from San Diego to Idaho; all business was conducted via telephone and e-mail. My father was packed on the 8th of April and his goods were delivered on June 27th.
First, the sale representative, Mr. Dave Coffey, was a pleasure to work with. All questions were answered and he worked with me every step of the way. The quoted price to pack my father's things and move them to Idaho was very competitive and more than reasonable.
When the movers arrived at my fathers home to pack him, they spent over 12 hours packing him. My father commented how careful and thorough the packers were with his goods. Overall, my father was extremely pleased with the job the Mega Van Line crew did.
We called for my father's things to be delivered on the 21st of June from the very beginning of the move -- his new home was scheduled to close escrow on the 20th. However, his goods did not make it to Idaho until the 27th -- one week later. Although his goods were delivered within the required time frame of up to seven business days, I had hoped with that much lead-time, his goods could have been delivered closer to the orginal date. But, that's life.
When my father's goods arrived, all funature items were assembled and placed by the Mega Van Line crew as agreed. Only three items were damaged. Once all items were unpacked and checked, the invoice showed my father had packed and shipped one LCD flat-panel TV, when in actuality, he shipped two. A quick look around the now very full garage did not solve the mistery as to where the TV went. We figured it had been lost, or worse, maybe stollen. Since the second TV was not listed on the packing list and couldn't prove it was packed, we figured it was a loss. I sent an e-mail to Dave Coffey telling him the TV was missing and a couple of days later I was called by Mega Van Lines. It seems Mega had done an internal investigation and agreed my Dad had indeed shipped two TVs and wanted to make things right. They asked me to look through the rest of my Dad's things to see if it was there, but if not, they'd make it right. THAT IS PUTTING THE CUSTOMER FIRST! THANK YOU! I'm happy to report the TV was hidden in the remaing goods, undamaged.
I'd recommend Mega to anyone; however, I encourage you to do your homework first. Although Dave tried to answer all my questions up front, there were a couple more I needed to ask. Storage costs of goods is a big one. Mega gives you 30 days storage for free, but the costs after that are very high. Storage costs were a lot more than I had planned.
I cannot give Mega a five-star rating because of the storage costs of goods and the fact that my father had to wait a week for his things. They are, however, a very strong 4 star company. Mega Van Lines is a company I'd use again. Thanks to Dave Coffey and his company!
