I was paying for a move for my daughter and her family from Oregon to Florida and my daughter went to Budget Van Lines and received a Binding Estimate for the move. G&G Moving & Storage did the pick up and did not abide by the estimate, but wound up being more than double. From date of pick up to getting the contents of the truck into their facility in California was one month. In that time we did had no idea where the goods were. After a month we were called and told the weight was more than double and they would not honor the binding estimate given by Budget Van Lines. It was either come up with more than double the estimate or they would not ship the goods. I was given several hours to come up with the money or they would put the goods in storage until I did with additional costs for storage. Unfortunately we had to borrow money from several sources at Christmas time in order to get my daughter's belongings shipped. This took an additional 8 days to get across country. We contacted G&G several times for status and were told they didn't know where the driver was but gave us his cell phone number to try and contact him. All in all the experience was stressful. My daughter just had a baby and I was the sole support for the whole family, as my son-in-law just lost his job. They left their home in Oregon for better job options in Florida and this was an added stress and upset for all. I plan on filing a claim with California Consumer Affairs Department as well as a complaint with BBB in NYC for Budget Van Lines.
