I contracted with Tony Osso for a pack and move from Oceanside, CA to Salt Lake City UT. I was given a binding contract that the move was not to exceed a specified dollar amount. The move was scheduled for Dec 31, 2010, the packers were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 AM, they showed up at 2:00 PM after several phone calls.
They packed until after 12:00 Am, then came and told us we had too much stuff, either we paid another $2500 or they would leave. What choice did we have as we were leaving the next day, thank heaven they accepted AMEX. They left with our belongings around 2:00 AM. I did not hear another word from them for several weeks despite numerous phone calls. Finally one morning at around 7:00 AM I received a phone call they were outside my house ready to deliver, so much for advance notice.
I was moving in with a friend until I could purchase a home, so specific stuff was to go to storage (furniture and household goods) the reminder to my Temp living space. They were supposed to have marked the boxes so we would know what went to storage and to the house, well not so much...It was such a mess I had them take the majority of stuff to storage, which the charges and addition $1000 for.
My friend and I had to spend the next couple of months going through the storage trying to figure out what was what. During that time we discovered the damage, it was breakable, it was broken. The packer had just thrown stuff into boxes, no regard for my possessions. The broken and damaged items tallied into the thousands of dollars. ALL of THIS BREAKAGE was because of improper packaging or lack of packaging.
I paid for a professional company to package and move my possessions, what I received as a absolute mess. The damage and items broken list is far too extensive to list here. I submitted a claim to them and the offered me a "$200.00 GOOD FAITH" settlement. I have decided to take them to small claims court.
