I used Flat Rate Moving twice. The first move was my home on 12/15/07 and they did an excellent job. They packed and moved me from Wilshire District to Sherman Oaks. When the freight elevator at the move from location broke down they took the balance of my stuff down the stairs. Fortunately I was on the 2nd floor of a 20 level building. The came back the following day to retrieve what was trapped in the elevator and moved that too.
It was a wonderful experience so I contracted them to move my office on 12/28/07 from the Wilshire District to North Hollywood. Unfortunately it proved to be way too big a job for them. They had 20 men, 5 trucks, and took 3 days to complete the job. It started great but went downhill fast. It appeared that several of their men were temps who gave up and quit in the middle of the job... forcing 3 of the men to finally complete the job on day 3. These three men worked their butts off to complete the loading of the final truck... but did not take care of the property they were moving. We had expensive, fragile items such as lamps, and decorative items that were not wrapped up or protected. They were just loaded on the back of the truck. When they opened the doors at arrival we noticed how unpacked these goods were and immediately noticed that several were broken. While the 3 men went into the new location to survey we took pictures with our phone cameras. We waited to see what they would do.... Now here is the bad part...
They took 2 of the broken lamps and hid them in a garbage dumpster next to the shipping door of our new office. When we confronted the foreman he apologized nad said he was going to tell us... would that be before or after they buried them in the dumpster. We immediately called Alex and alerted him. We sent him pictures to show what happened and he promised to take care of the matter. It was an overwhelming move and we just put the matter aside until we were back in business.
Unfortunately to this day, 4/7/08, over 3 months later we still have received nothing... despite completing their claim forms.
