This message is in regards to the non compliance of the agreement and complaint that was previously recorded with BBB.
After my first communications with the BBB and many misdirections from CT Direct Inc / The Chair Company, we have still not received our chair order and the “refund” check that was sent for $17,000.00 is not valid due to insufficient funds. The company contact – Mr. Larry Hoffman called and misdirected us several times after the complaint was made to the BBB by giving false shipping company information such as by email on 9/9/11 with the company “RL Carriers” with tracking number 1014397 (I have this email for records). Upon checking on this shipment, I was informed by RL Carriers that the tracking number is not valid and that they had NEVER been contacted by Mr. Hoffman or CT Direct Inc. The second false company was given to me on 9/15/11 by phone when Mr. Hoffman called me to say the chairs were on a truck on their way to me with a delivery in 2-3 days. This second company was Benton Express. After calling Benton Express, I found that they do not service the Connecticut or New England corridor and was informed that they would have never taken such an order even if Mr. Hoffman or CT Direct Inc. had attempted to ship through them which he hadn't. Mr. Hoffman called me out of the blue to give me this false information – again to misdirect us.
Mr. Hoffman during this entire ordeal has been basically unreachable when promised he would be, never called back when he promised he would, would never send the tracking numbers as promised several times and has been giving us the run around from the very beginning. In my 20 years in this industry, I have never experienced a more deplorable business owner or representative as he is consistently misdirecting and misleading us to the point of all out fraud. This is compiled on the fact that he has stolen $17,000.00 for our company and we have been forced to hire an attorney – whom also has had no response from Mr. Hoffman.
In receiving the first response from the BBB on 9/7, Mr. Hoffman mysteriously reached out to say the chairs that we ordered were actually on a truck on their way to us, only to find out the shipping company did not know anything about the order or shipment. He then sent a “refund” check (which we have copies of as well as the physical check) only to find out upon a call to the bank that there was NEVER $17,000.00 in that account to cover the check. To my understanding, this act in itself is a felony charge and we would like to proceed with any action that will lead to both the arrest of Mr. Hoffman as well as most importantly, the immediate return of our $17,000.00 by way of a wire transfer or certified bank check.
Mr. Hoffman has deceived our company from the beginning and I believe never intended to ship the chairs that we paid for in advance which was his “company policy” to do so prior to shipment. Mr. Hoffman has had a different excuse and story each and every time that I was fortunate enough to get in contact with him and has even called me without my prompt to tell me lies, false information and again misdirect me and the company that he stole from.
