I hired American Relocation to move my belongings from storage in AZ to CA. The agreed price was $1,300 for up to 3,200 lbs. Upon arrival in CA, I received a phone call from "Kevin" at American Relocation in which he told me that I must pay $4,500 in cash or my belongings would not be delivered. Kevin told me that the total weight of my belongings came to 7,000 lbs. Upon delivery, I asked American Relocation movers to provide the weight certificate of the truck as per the AZ & CA law (Dept of Transportation) and company refused to do so. The movers then told me that I must pay $3,200 up in cash right away or the truck would drive away (please note, this was a Budget rental truck - not a American Relocation truck as per agreement). Company then told me that the furniture would remain in the driveway and not be taken into the house until I paid the remainder of the fraudulently demanded $4,500. While the movers were unloading the truck, my family & I called sheriff’s department who arrived and I filed a police report. Upon the sheriff’s arrival, the American Relocation movers stopped demanding the additional cash and admitted to the police that the weight of my belongings was not accurate and that I did not owe more than the $1,300 as per contract. Movers quickly left with the overpayment of $3,200 and did not finish the moving services as per contract, and my point of contact there in the sales department was a lady by the name of "May Z." who refused to return any of my calls. FRAUD!!!!! BEWARE!!!! SCAM!!!!
